Orange County Sustainability
Growth is a constant in Southern California. From Orange County to the Antelope Valley, new buildings and retrofits of historic California architecture are showing the sustainable building movement is truly boundless. Our LEED Platinum office has been a fixture in Irvine for 25 years. It’s where our MEP engineering experts and Commissioning agents work on some of the nation’s most advanced commercial, higher educational and commercial facilities, with our projects pushing beyond LEED and reaching Net Zero Energy status. And, it’s an office where we encourage growth among our staff. The work we do here lets our team push themselves and creates opportunities for personal and career advancement.
Close to the Pacific coast, miles of hiking trails, Disneyland, and more professional sports teams than you can count on one hand, life in Irvine means you’re always five minutes away from something great. And we make things a little fun in our office as well: we love hosting staff bowling nights and hiking trips, and we’ve been known to pull out a net and play a little ping pong on our conference tables.

Unique facilities require creative solutions. And nowhere in the country is that more apparent than Las Vegas. Sacramento Sustainability
California’s capital is one of the sunniest cities in the state, and in our Sacramento office we make the most of it. Our LEED Platinum office features several of the sustainability design features we implement in our more than 350-LEED certified projects across the globe, including advanced daylighting techniques that allow us to capture natural light for 90% of our open office space. We also take the time to get out and enjoy it: as one of the most bike-friendly cities in the nation, there are hundreds of miles of paved bike trails, and much of our staff bikes in to work daily. We’re a close knit group who love the family-friendly atmosphere Sacramento offers, with a lot of our staff’s children attending the same schools and living in the same neighborhoods. There’s a sense of community here that creates a positive work-life balance for our staff and their families.
There’s a lot of work to be done in California. Our number of MEP Engineering experts here has nearly doubled in the last five years, allowing us to support our San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices. Our projects range from those that focus on net zero energy and water, large campus projects to facilities for the state and local government. Sacramento is a city of leaders, and it’s where we lead the movement for sustainability across the region.

Bay Area Engineering Expertise
This is where it all started for Glumac. In 1971 our founder Dick Glumac started the firm and quickly began work on the Embarcadero Center Towers, and several other landmark high-rises that make up the San Francisco skyline. Today, the Bay Area is currently experiencing an explosion of growth with condos, apartments, and offices buildings are going up at every turn. Our office is located in the center of the financial district, allowing many employees to leave their cars behind for the commute. Bay Area Rapid Transit stations are within two blocks of the office, along with light rail and buses. Many employees who live in the East Bay or Marin either carpool or take the ferry to the Embarcadero.
Recreational choices in the Bay Area are countless. Our employees enjoy some of the world’s finest opera, symphony, ballet, jazz clubs, and theater companies—all within walking distance. Incredible hiking, boating, skiing and many other physical activities are also easy to find and contribute greatly to the work life balance.

Sustainable Design + Building Commissioning
There’s a unique kind of energy to Seattle. And it’s the focus of our office here to conserve it. This is the city where the 2030 District was conceived, and is the home of the International Living Future Institute—developers of the Living Building Challenge. Energy codes here are some of the strictest in the world, with the city’s goal of being Net-Zero by 2030. Combine that with a commercial construction boom that’s unprecedented in the Pacific Northwest, and it’s easy to see why our Seattle staff keeps so busy on exciting projects. Thankfully, this is also the home of some world-class coffee.

Supporting the Future of Tech
Silicon Valley has become a wellspring of software and hardware innovation, and the work produced here changes the lives of everyday people across the globe. Our office here focuses heavily on microelectronics facility and data center design, working alongside some of the largest tech firms in the country to create the reliable, sustainable facilities they need to continue to bring the future of technology into reality. We bring that same level of innovation to our work, with an open, collaborative office environment where our staff is encouraged to share ideas, be it together in a breakout space, or over a game of ping pong or foosball on break.
The wide-reaching impact of Silicon Valley is apparent in its diverse population of ambitious young professionals. This global appeal brings a cultural vibrancy to the area that our staff enjoys each day. And whether you prefer to spend your free time hiking the awesome trails of Yosemite National Park and Monterey Bay or the cosmopolitan city streets of nearby downtown San Francisco, this city has a little something for everyone.
