The Life Science Technology and Engineering East (LSTE-E) and the Life Long Learning (LLL) represent UCDH’s commitment towards electrification and a decarbonized future. Each building utilizes a state fully electric HVAC system. Both buildings utilize Heat recovery Chillers as the primary source of Heating Hot Water & Chilled Water for comfort heating and cooling. The LSTE-E features a heat recovery source loop utilizing exhaust heat recovery coils within exhaust fan units. The LLL features ~10MBH of heat pump chillers as a secondary source of heating with the LSTE-E featuring 17 MBH of Electric Boilers for secondary heating. Each building utilizes a combination of hydronic reheat coils within the air terminals and ceiling mounted chilled beams to provide comfort heating and cooling to the spaces. The LSTE-E features ~1500 Kw of Electric Steam Generation capabilities for process equipment purposes as well as DHW heating.
Aggie Square represents a significant investment in Sacramento’s economy and environment from UCDH & Wexford Life Sciences. Demanding project requirements are bringing UCDH’s ambitious electrification goal to life. The HVAC technology in this building represents the gold standard for high performance efficient electrical equipment. The LSTE-E is designed to host a variety of highly advanced research and high performing zones while maintaining environmentally sustainable goals.
