Armenian American Museum and Cultural Center
Glendale, California
The Armenian American Museum and Cultural Center’s mission is to promote understanding and appreciation of America’s ethnic and cultural diversity by sharing the experiences of the Armenian American community. The site’s vision is to establish a cultural campus that enriches the community, educates the public, and empowers individuals to embrace cultural diversity and speak out against prejudice.
The City of Glendale is leading monumental redesign and expansion of it’s Central Park, where the Armenian American Museum is being built. The campus promises to serve as the new heart of the city with additional outdoor programming curated for both the local community and international visitors.
The project is being split into two phases; Phase I Foundation Phase and Phase II Horizon Phase. Phase I includes a one-level semi-subterranean parking garage and foundation of the Cultural and Educational Center. Phase II will follow up with the two-level, 50,820 square foot museum facility build on top of the semi-subterranean parking garage.
The first level houses the grand lobby, auditorium, learning center, demonstration kitchen, gift shop, and administrative offices. The second level is dedicated to housing both the permanent and temporary exhibition galleries, as well as the collections archives.
