San Diego Gas & Electric Resilience Center
San Diego, California, United States
The SDG&E Resilience Center is a multifaceted facility designed to bolster resiliency amidst disruptions in utility service while doubling as a beacon of learning. The center comprises three essential components:
1. Emergency Operations Center (EOC): Previously, the EOC faced challenges in supporting the Emergency Management team during pivotal incidents, hindered by antiquated theater-style seating, a lack of collaborative spaces, and a shortage of support rooms. The new state-of-the-art design not only amplifies the EOC’s emergency response capabilities but also seamlessly integrates the rapid expansion of SDG&E’s team.
2. Fire Science & Innovation Lab (Innovation Lab) & Experience Center: Dedicated to pioneering advancements in wildfire forecasting and the broader battle against climate change, this dual-purpose facility not only exhibits SDG&E’s trailblazing technologies but also serves as a collaborative space. It’s home to a team of meteorologists at the forefront of wildfire defense and invites community engagement through an interactive experience center complemented by dynamic visual displays.
3. Wildfire Mitigation Center: With the integration of a real-time risk analytics dashboard, the Wildfire Mitigation Center is now equipped to offer strategic guidance in wildfire prevention, marking a significant leap forward in proactive environmental safeguarding.
