LA Metro Southwestern Yard Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor

  • Overview

Glumac provided mechanical and electrical engineering services for the Division 16: Southwestern Yard Operations and Maintenance Facility. Located near Los Angeles International Airport on an 18-acre site, this new facility will provide services to the new Metro Light Rail Transit (LRT). The new LRT is an approximately 8.5 mile extension connecting the Metro Green Line and the Metro Expo Line.

The new Operations and Maintenance Facility includes a 83,520-square-feet Main Shop building, which provides service and inspection, heavy repair, truck/wheel/axle repair, sheet metal work, and machining. It also has administrative offices, a conference room, and break rooms. Additionally, the site includes a car wash facility, a cleaning platform, a material storage building, a Traction Power Substation (TPSS) site, two signal houses, a paint/body shop, a wheel truing shop, a blow down facility, and the storage capacity of up to 70 light rail vehicles. Staff parking will accommodate approximately 152 stalls, 14 of which are accessible to persons with disabilities.
